Sanford, a former Canadian junior international, was signed to replace Ryan Jorde, who was released from his contract following an 'off-ice incident', but with the Stingrays now back to full strength, following Pavel Gomenyuk's return from a rib injury, Sanford has paid the price for some questionable defensive performances.
A club statement read:
"We can confirm we have released James Sanford today. Given the fact we are missing some guys this weekend the timing is unfortunate. But a number of other factors came into play which led to us making this decision. On a positive note, we are pleased to have Pavel Gomenyuk back in the line-up for Sunday's Elite League game at Nottingham Panthers after his rib injury and we are hoping to bring in a couple of other British players to boost the roster."More soon...
