Red hot Stingrays claim second win in Coventry

Coventry Blaze 1-3 Excel Hull Stingrays

The Excel Hull Stingrays made it three wins in three games against the Elite League's top sides tonight, following up wins over Sheffield and Nottingham with a 3-1 triumph in Coventry over the Blaze.

The Stingrays were without Konstantin Kalmikov and Lee Mitchell, who has undergone treatment for his troublesome knee, and they got their away double header off to the perfect start, taking the lead 12 minutes in through Jason Silverthorn.

The home side got back on even terms with a Dan Carlson powerplay marker less than four minutes into the second but a third period goal from captain Kurtis Dulle and an empty netter from Andrew Coburn was enough to eke out the win for the inform Stingrays.

Sylvain Cloutier's side now face a long trek to Scotland to face bottom side Dundee Stars in a second away fixture of the weekend before a meeting with Braehead at the Hull Arena on Wednesday.
