Lyle comes up big as Cardiff sink Stingrays

Excel Hull Stingrays 1-3 Cardiff Devils

League leaders the Cardiff Devils remain the only side in the Elite League yet to have suffered defeat to the Excel Hull Stingrays, tonight building off a solid 36 save showing from netminder Stevie Lyle to beat Sylvain Cloutier's side for their fourth victory over the Rays this season.

Jon Pelle bagged the games first goal with a lovely finish past an unsighted Christian Boucher in the Stingrays net before Macrae netted in the second to double the Devils lead.

The Rays then opened their account for the night through Trevor Read - who hit twine after hard work from Konstantin Kalmikov forced Devils netminder Stevie Lyle to sprawl post-to-post in an attempt to save. However, a neat one-two between Pelle and Mark Richardson then saw the latter net Cardiff's third of the night to claim both points and their fourth win against the Rays with just one fixture between the clubs remaining.
