A 58th minute Mike Berry goal was enough to condemn the Excel Hull Stingrays to yet another defeat, their eighth in a row, as they narrowly went down to the Newcastle Vipers by two goals to one.
Adam Knight's first league goal as a Stingray gave Sylvain Cloutier's side a 1-0 lead after 24 minutes, however, Newcastle goals from Jason Tejchma and Berry, with less than two minutes remaining, gave the Vipers the two points and handed the Stingrays yet another loss.

Cloutier's Comments
"I think we were very unlucky. It was the best game we have played for a month-and-a-half and the best defensive display in a long time. The guys did a great job and battled for 60 minutes."We concentrated on defence first, which is something I have been preaching all season. We got an unlucky bounce at the end but give Newcastle credit, they found a way to win. The hockey gods are not with us at the moment but hopefully they will be soon."
