Cardiff Devils 6-0 Excel Hull Stingrays
The Excel Hull Stingrays failed to beat the Cardiff Devils for the fifth time in six meetings this season as conceded six and were shut out by a Welsh side that has recently surged up the table into third position.
Despite being minus coach Sylvain Cloutier, defencemen James Hutchinson and Craig Mitchell and forward Matty Davies, the Rays managed to keep the scores level in the first period, however, once the Devils struck first through Mark Smith, the visitors tired and weary squad capitulated to concede a further five goals within the next 40 minutes, including a double from Max Birbraer and goals from Phil Hill, Brad Voth and Tylor Michel.
Aside from the solidity of the first period showing, in which they Rays effectively shut down the Devils, there were very few highlights for Cloutier's men, who now move on to face the Nottingham Panthers at the Hull Arena.
